School of Environment & Life Sciences
Health & Safety

The University has a duty to provide staff and students with appropriate training and access to requisite safety information. Potential hazards are managed and controlled by induction training, regular Safety Meetings & inspections and risk assessments for teaching and research activities.

We all have a statutory duty of care to ourselves and to others in our workplace and so must treat safety as integral to our daily routine. This site holds the principal documents needed to manage this duty.

It is your responsibility to ensure that hazards you may encounter are properly assessed and to comply with relevant safe systems of work. The Safety Officer cannot make everybody safe - that is up to you.
