The Geographical Association in Manchester
The Manchester branch of the Geographical Association is designed to promote activities relating to geography in the local area.
Every year we hold:
- a fascinating programme of contemporary lectures for 6th formers, students and teachers
- continuing professional development for teachers
- an annual dinner
- the Worldwise Quiz
- a sixth form conference at one of the three universities in Manchester
- a field trip in or around Manchester

Alpine Glaciers: response to climate change over the last 100 years
Professor David Collins from the University of Salford presented this lecture to celebrate 100 years of the Geographical Association in Manchester.
The topic reflected the first recorded lecture to the Manchester Branch of the Geographical Association on 29 January 1910, at which Miss Walters B.Sc., HMI, gave a Lantern Lecture entitled Alpine Glaciers.
